Honey Apple: The Legend of Taiwan Aomori Fuji Apples

The Legendary Fruit from the Foot of Mt. Fuji
At the foot of Mt. Fuji in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, a legendary apple carrying nearly a century of agricultural wisdom and natural essence is known worldwide — the famous Fuji apple.
The Origin of Fuji
Fuji apples were successfully bred by the Tohoku Agricultural Experiment Station in 1939, created by crossing the Jonathan and Delicious varieties. Combining the sweetness of Jonathan with the crisp texture of Delicious, Fuji apples achieved unparalleled quality.
Why Called Honey Apple
When you cut open a Fuji apple, you can often see an amber-colored translucent sugar structure at the center of the flesh — this is the so-called honey. This is because Fuji apples contain higher levels of sorbitol, known overseas as honey core. This honey layer makes the apple sweetness more concentrated and flavor more intense.
Nutrition and Storage
Fuji apples are rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, and polyphenol antioxidants. For storage, individually wrap with newspaper or plastic wrap before refrigerating to maintain moisture and slow oxidation.
Creative Recipes
The crisp texture of Fuji apples is perfect for fresh eating, and also suitable for making apple pie, apple juice, or slicing with cheese as a simple appetizer.
